How to lower a 1968-79 VW bus

With one hand on the top of the rotor and one on the bottom, wobble the rotor up and down. If you can’t feel any play in the bearings, loosen the spindles nut slowly until you have a little play in the bearings. Now that you can feel the play, slowly tighten the spindle nut until the play disappears and no further. Now tighten down the 8mm Allen bolt to lock the pinch nut in place. You will want to check your hubs again after you put a few miles on the bus.
