Wagenswest started making these drop spindles many many years before the large companies came along and flooded the market with poor quality imported sketchy junk spindles. We still make them, with attention to quality and geometry, 2 things the other companies seam not to care about. This quality thing, is why Wagenswest has decided to stay small and focus on making parts that work good. We build these spindles in house and typically you can expect a 2 to 3 week wait to get a set after you order. THANK YOU!

Wagenswest, Volkswagen bus lowering kit – the “SLAM BAY SPECIAL”

1968-79 Volkswagen bus lowering kit. No short cuts here, no junk or getting almost what you wanted.

No core charge any more, this is an out rite price

Ship in 4-6 weeks.

This VW bus lowering kit comes with,

Wagenswest built, 4 Inch narrowed, 2 degree raked, adjustable beam, with NEW, OEM style needle bearings . Also included is a torsion spring narrowing tool, plus Wagenswest built, 2.5 inch dropped spindles. And for the rear Wagenswest built, 3.25 Horseshoe rear drop plates, Or upgrade to the 4.5 rear drop plates if your are going real low and want to run aftermarket aluminum wheels.

This kit will drop your bus from 3.25 inches lower than stock, to 8 or more inches lower than stock.

Cores. — No cores

When in comes to the torsion springs, you Will need to narrow your own. A Wagenswest spring narrowing tool is included, and narrowing your own torsion springs, instructions are here.

1″ inch raised beam option,

The 1” inch raised beam option is included in our beams with a dual bolt pattern, to aid in getting more of a drop and better ground clearance. Here is the deal with 1968-79 bay window buses; because of the ball joint design, the beam hangs down roughly 1” inch more than split window bus beams do. So when you install a 1” inch raised beam you gain 1” inch of ground clearance and in effect you turn a set of 2.5” inch dropped spindles into 3.5”inch drops.

This option has a cost, —— wait for it —— you will need to notch / cut above the beam 1”inch higher, you will also need to remove the heater tube over the beam, leave it out – or replace with flex hose. You will also have some cables to move. This is a bit of work but has a big payoff. The 1”inch raised beams have dual side plate bolt patters so you can bolt them in the stock spot if you chicken out.

Should I use 3.25″ Horseshoe drop plates? Or upgrade to 4.5″ drop plates ?

Rule of thumb, 4.5″ drop plates are for 1968-70 buses.

If you have a 1968-70 bus and you plan on running wide five aftermarket 15″ aluminum wheels, will need the 4.5″ drop plates. If you have a 1971-79 bus you are probably ok with the 3.25″ Horseshoe drop plates . The 4.5″ drop plates are not special because they are 1.25″ inches lower then the Horseshoe plates. 4.5″ drop plates are special because they narrow the rear wheel base by a 1/2″ inch per side.

The Lollipop a 1949 – 1959 bus nose cone adapter mount.
This kit makes it so you can install a tunnel case transmission into your early bus or beetle, 1959 and down.
This adapter will not push your transmission back, like the other adapters on the market !!!!!!!!
Made at Wagenswest with our USA special blend Polyurethane to help insulate the transmission from the bus, this helps keep the noise down in the cab and cargo area.
Kit comes with one Wagenswest nose cone mount and retainer plate.
This Lollipop is a simple solution to an age old problem.
Your type II nose cone will need to be trimmed to fit, like the photo in this add. And you will need a type 2 nose cone if you use this on an early beetle.
