1955-1979 Wagenswest, “Really Good Wide Five” Disc Brake Kit

The “Really Good Wide Five Disc Brake Kit”, for the 1955 to mid 1967 Volkswagen bus. Engineered and made right here in our shop, this is probably the best wide five front disc brake kit available for the early VW bus. We start with a very large expensive chunk of 6061 aluminum, we put it in our big CNC lathe and after that our milling machine and then we do the same for the brackets, after some time we have a really nice bus disc brake kit.

This kit uses your stock VW grease caps.

This kit uses stock size Volkswagen bus wheel bearings and seals and utilizes a vented Porsche 944-911 rotor, for great consistent braking.

Brake specs
Offset = +.25 inch per side.
Caliper = Wilwood 4 piston, by 1.75″ inch each.
Kit bolts directly to stock and most drop spindles.
Fits inside stock 15″inch bus wheels, with the selection of the “shaved option”.
Comes with 3 Options, gray black or red calipers and MOD for stock bus 15″ wheels “check below”.
Comes with everything needed to install, minus grease.

Wagenswest custom billet bus spring plate caps.

Machined here in our shop from 6061 billet aluminum and come with stainless steel Allen hardware. These caps come in a machined finish and can be polished or painted by you.

Wagenswest 1968-79 VW Bus rear frame notching air ride kit

This Wagenswest rear air bag frame rail kit for 1968-79 Volkswagen buses comes with all the metal parts needed to install bags in the rear of your bus. As you can see cutting and welding is required! For years we have been fabricating these into buses and now we are offering a no “guess work” kit.

This rear bay bag kit is made to go with our air-ride beam, found here.

This is not a job for the novice, but it really is the best way we have found to bag the back of a Bay Window bus. Horseshoe drop plates or 4.5” drop plates are needed to get you low, and this kit will both notch the frame for your axles and give you UP & DOWN motion.

Wagenswest 1968-71 VW bus adjustable spring plates, these will make it a breeze to fine tune the ride height, on the rear of your early bay bus. Adjustable spring plates are also a good idea with Horseshoe plates and the Wagenswest 4.5 drop plates. Made out of all new material, “special high strength alloys”.

The Bustang front disc brake kit is for 1963-70 VW bus with a 5 on 205mm bolt pattern. This disc brake kit is something that we have been using and building for years, it works Awesome. With heavy duty cast vented rotors and 4 piston Wilwood calipers, this kit will stop you fast!

This kit comes with

2 x Prepped vented rotors with bearing races installed

2 x Wagenswest laser cut CNC machined wide-five adapters

1 x Set of new wheel bearings and grease seals 2 x Steel caliper mounts, with mounting hardware

2 x Wilwood 4 piston calipers and brake pads

2 x New Wagenswest grease caps

2 x Brake line adapters

1 x Package of lock tight

This Bustang disc brake kit will fit under most any aftermarket aluminum or steel 15+ inch wheels.
If you want to run stock wheels, then we suggest our Babystang disc kit.
Both kits work with most any type of dropped spindle.

1955-63 VW bus to Porsche 944 style vented disc brake kit

This disc brake kit is designed and built in the tradition of Porsche to bus conversions, using vented pre 1987 Porsche 944 rotors. With new Wagenswest 6061 aluminum, CNC machined hubs, this disc brake kit is a direct bolt on for the 1955 to mid 1963 Volkswagen Bus spindles.

The kit comes with what you see in the photos, including 4 piston Wilwood calipers, new wheel bearings, new rotors, seals, bolts, mounts and brake line adapters.

Bolt pattern is 5 on 130mm Porsche.

Caliper color choice is gray or red

Bolts directly to dropped or stock 1955-63 bus spindles

This is for a pair, “left and right” custom Wagenswest CNC machined aluminum, 944 Porsche stretched grease caps. thes will also work as stock replacments for 944 porsche grease caps, part numbers -77405691C,477405692C,

Made to work with the 944 to VW bus front disc brake conversion kits, were the extra room is needed in the cap to fit the longer spindle stub and axle nut. Sold as a pair, one of the caps will have a speedometer cable hole, unless ordered with out the hole.

1968 – 79 bay bus 2.5 lifted ball joint spindles.

These are heavy duty, welded and lifted spindles for your late VW bus.

These lifting spindles will bolt directly to your 1968-79 bus without any mods and they have been drilled at a custom angle for your stock speedometer cable.

On the disk brake lifted spindles we put the driver’s side spindle stub on the right side and passenger on the left. We do this because they fit best like this and the spindle pinch nuts are more than adequate to retain the hub. These spindles will widen your track by >.5″ inch + per side.

1955-67 Dual circuit bus master cylinder kit.

This kit installs a dual circuit master cylinder into your 55-67 vw bus.

A must for a disk brake conversion!

We use 2 style master cylinders, 1971-79 bus with 24mm pistons or a rabbit master cylinder with 21mm pistons.

We like to use the late bus master cylinder for disk brakes with LARGE piston calipers and we use the rabbit for small piston disk brakes (1.5 inch &under) or drum brakes.

Includes

1 – disk brake dual circuit master cylinder.

1 – Adapter kit and boot.

1 – Dual circuit reservoir and 2 rubber grommets.
